CHC52021 Diploma of Community Service

This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.

Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.

The Diploma in Community Services will provide you with the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding to work in community services in a variety of various settings.

You will learn how to provide individual help on a daily basis as well as how to develop specialised community-based programmes.

In addition to your coursework, you will do 200 hours of work placement activities to ensure you are ready for practical work in industry when you finish your studies.

The Diploma in Community Services is a self-directed placement programme. Self-sourcing placements not only allow students to use the application process for learning and development, but they are also strongly supported by our industry partners, who prefer to review student applications based on merit and suitability, reflecting current industry expectations.


Students will be helped to find placements and given linked to known placement opportunities as they occur.

We will introduce you to industry through practical placements, field trips, and guest lecturers. You will graduate with the ability to confront socioeconomic disadvantages and change people's lives.
